The Western Australia Aboriginal Environmental Health (WAAEH) Program uses the SafetyCulture platform to support Aboriginal Environmental Health Practitioners (AEHPs) in collecting and managing field-based environmental health data across Aboriginal communities. AEHPs undertake a range of activities, including Healthy Home Assessments, clinically driven environmental health referrals, pest and animal management, and community advocacy and partnership initiatives. Data are recorded in real time using mobile devices, creating a rich dataset that supports service monitoring, program evaluation, and assessment of progress towards reducing environmental health-related disease.

A key function of the program is the identification and documentation of housing issues associated with critical healthy hardware infrastructure. While SafetyCulture provides basic analytical capabilities, its reporting functionality is limited in its ability to generate meaningful insights from large and complex datasets. To address this gap, the WAAEH Program has adopted Microsoft Power BI as a complementary analytics and visualisation tool.

Power BI enables the transformation of routinely collected operational data into interactive dashboards that provide real-time insights into program performance and environmental health outcomes. Examples include tracking the timeliness of housing repairs, monitoring the number and types of environmental health issues identified within communities, and reporting on animal health management activities such as tick treatment and desexing across regions. These visualisations support evidence-based decision-making, identify service delivery trends, and facilitate more targeted interventions.

By integrating Power BI with SafetyCulture data, the WAAEH Program demonstrates how enhanced data analytics can strengthen environmental health service delivery. This approach empowers service providers to better understand community needs, optimise resource allocation, and improve program effectiveness, ultimately contributing to better environmental health outcomes for Aboriginal communities in Western Australia.
